Univas allows students across U.K. universities to connect, collaborate and showcase projects that matter to them.

This document describes how and when we use information provided to us through use of this website, and how we comply with the DPA (Data Protection Act) and the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

What we collect

If you choose to create an account, you must provide us with some personal information.

  • Required data retrieved via the use of the Facebook login service, including:
    • Full name
    • Gender
    • Email address
    • Facebook Profile Image
  • Required data collected via the on-site signup procedure:
    • University student identification number or code
    • University email address
    • The institution you are studying at
    • Current course and level of qualification

Additionally, upon creating a profile you may wish to provide more information about yourself, such as:

  • A short biography
  • Links to your website or social media profiles
  • Media of, or links to, previous work
  • A profile image
  • Information you provide to us via Tags, such as your skills and interests
  • Data you provide to us through the use of our services[1].

Upon creation, you may wish to make information about yourself or data generated from use of our services[1] publicly viewable. Members will be presented with the option to opt-out upon creation of material and are free to do so at any time.

Through use of this website, we may collect:

This website uses session tracking and browser fingerprinting techniques to collect data about engagement or usage patterns of the website. We collect this information to better understand how the site is used by members, and to provide an improved or personalised service in the future. This process does not store, save or collect personal information.

Information you provide to us is used to power our network of creatives. As part of joining the service, you become part of a network of students discovering and collaborating together through this service. Non-confidential information you provide to us via use of your profile will be made available to individuals who have signed up under the same institution.

However, we may also use this information to:

  • Sell, distribute or lease personal information to third parties
  • Contact you about offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address you have provided.
  • Disclose personal information to third parties when required by law to do so.
  • Contact you to gain insight on how you use this website. We may use the information to improve our services.

Transactional Email and Marketing Messages

As part of providing Our Services[1] to members, we operate a marketing, transactional, and administration email service to inform members about Our Services[1] and/or other news we feel may be relevant to you. Upon joining the website, users are opted-in to receiving transactional emails and notifications but can opt-out at any time using means as detailed in the footer email messages, or by updating email preferences on the website. Subscriber personal details are collected, processed, managed and stored in accordance with the regulations named above. Email message may include third party content. Email messages may contain tracking beacons, tracked links, or similar technologies in order to track activity within email messages. Where used, collection techniques record a range of subscriber data relating to engagement, geographic, demographics and already stored subscriber data. Our emails are using Amazon Web Services and are governed under the Amazon EU Sarl Privacy Policy[2]

We may pass on your personal information if we have a legal obligation to do so, or if we have to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements.

We may share the information you provide to us, only when you have specified for it to be made public, with other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes.

Users contacting this us through this website do so at their own discretion and provide any such personal details requested at their own risk.
